Since expanding into stormwater services in 2016, our experienced crews have developed practical, site-specific solutions for the maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation of stormwater facilities throughout Central Virginia.
Trusted by counties and municipalities throughout the region, Harbor Civil & Marine maintains Stormwater Best Management Practice (BMP) systems through ongoing annual contracts. From sediment removal and erosion repairs to drainage improvements and complete facility rehabilitation, we help our municipal partners maintain reliable, compliant, and effective stormwater infrastructure for the communities they serve.
James River High School BMP Structures
James River High School in Chesterfield County Virginia opened its doors to students in the Fall of 1994. When originally built, three stormwater BMP’s were constructed to retain, clean and manage all the stormwater runoff from the schools’ roofs, roadways and parking lots. In 2015, the implemented stormwater systems were sited for not properly retaining, cleaning and managing the stormwater as it was designed to do because of the lack of proper maintenance to the system. HCM Stormwater Management Construction Team rebuilt all three BMP’s to meet the new Chesapeake Bay Watershed Act regulations in a 9-month time frame. The first BMP is a Wet Pond BMP with aquatic benches and a forebay system, the second BMP Wet Pond BMP with forebay and Third BMP is a Wet BMP with an oil separator. All three BMP’s flow directly into the James River.
Russell Road Drainage
We have annual contracts with the counties of Albemarle, Chesterfield, Henrico and James City.
In 2024 we made improvements to the stormwater drainage system on Russell Road in Chesterfield County. We installed a construction entrance using bedding stone, to keep ground disturbance to a minimum, then excavated and removed the existing 18” PVC pipe and installed new 30” PVC pipe.
